We’ve made some tweaks to MasterSiteManager that I think you’ll like. These new updates in no way effect the way that MasterSiteManager.com currently works for those of you out there that love it just the way it is.

But for those of you that wished we offered more “drill down functionality”, we’ve got you covered.

To be honest, it’s not so much a change in the way our software works, but rather “how” you can go about using it.

Here’s what we mean…

Some of the feedback we’ve received suggested that we offer “page specific keyword tracking”.

In other words, some people have asked, “Where do I rank for my chosen keywords on a specific page within my web site?”

Many people thought that you couldn’t track internal pages using MasterSiteManager, but you actually can, and it’s super easy!

With MasterSiteManager, you can track ANY URL.

This means, you can track things like your root domain, HubPages, Squidoo pages, Articles you posted or syndicated – anything… and this includes internal pages or blog posts too!

Here’s how it works:

Setting up your account to track specific pages WITHIN your blog or site for example and not just the root domain is easy.

Simply login to your account and go to the “Manage Web Sites Tab” then click the “Add new URL” button.

Now simply type in the full URL that you want to track.

Next, click on the “SEO Stats” tab at the top of the page

Next click on the “Keywords” link for the URL you just added.

Finally, click the “Add Keywords” button and type or paste in a list of the keywords you want to track.

The system will then pull the stats for that URL and where that INTERNAL PAGE ranks for each of the keywords you’ve entered.

As you can see it doesn’t matter what the url is. Once you put a specific URL into the MSM system, any keywords you add will be tied to that particular URL, and not your root domain.

How cool is that? Let us know what you think!

Link popularity is the total number of web sites that link to your site.

Why is it important?

Because good link popularity can dramatically increase traffic to your web site. Well placed links are an excellent source of consistent and targeted traffic. And due to recent developments, they can even generate additional search engine traffic to your site.

Most of the major search engines now factor Link Popularity into their relevancy algorithms. As a result, increasing the number of quality, relevant sites which link to your site can actually improve your search engine rankings. There is still no one “secret trick” to getting good rankings, but boosting your site’s popularity may give it the edge it needs.

Knowing who links to your site and increasing the number of quality links is an important part of any web site promotion effort.

As reported recently by the Score report, American consumers did more than 16 billion searches in the month of July 2010, with Yahoo actually gaining 1.2% of search engine market share.

And surprisingly Yahoo’s gains were largely at the expense of Google sites, which lost 1% of search market share month-over-month. Google is still the front-runner with 61.6% of the search market. But for how long?

As you already know, Bing and Yahoo don’t supply the majority of the traffic to your site, but they do drive highly targeted traffic. And that’s pretty significant.

In fact, over all Yahoo! and Bing users will stay on your site an average of 23% longer then someone who came to you from Google.

At a recent SEO Conference (SES SF) it was said “Yahoo and Bing are merging. They’ll be 100% merged by the end of August or the beginning of September.

This is actually a pretty big deal and something that web masters and business online can no longer ignore. not something to ignore anymore. If you do, you’ll be missing out on 10 to 12 percent of traffic.”

How To Take Advantage of the Yahoo! / Bing Marriage:

1. Bing favors domain names that have some age on them. Don’t make the mistake of giving up a domain name with good history and start again. Instead, use the aged domain as your “money site” and then use newer “keyword rich domain names” as feeder sites in your own link network.

2. Titles are of first importance when it comes to on-page optimization. Bing clearly places a lot of importance on Title tags and what they say about your site.

To leverage this make sure you use your best keywords in the title tags of every page on your site. But don’t just stuff the keywords in in the title tag, just to have them there.

Remember, your title tag isn’t just for the search engines. Use it to “Sell the click” as our friend Jerry West from WebMarketingNow.com says.

Making your title tag stand out from the rest of the serp results will increase traffic and conversion over keyword stuffing the title tag alone.

3. Bing seems it also places a higher value on pages that have at least 300 words. We’ve spoke with a number of trusted SEO guru’s who have confirmed this and in fact report that 1,200 words is actually the magic number to shoot for.

4. Link popularity is your #1 off page SEO strategy bar none. Conventional SEO advice says that your backlinks need to be from relevant sites and or related sites. But the fact is, it’s just not true with Google (at all) and not true with Yahoo! Bing on the other hand does want to see this sort of relevancy, but if they join with and use the Yahoo! database, all bets are off.

When it comes to link building, get links where you can get them and try to get a mix of links. Relevant links offer the added advantage of long term “future proofing”your SEO efforts, but don’t over look any non relevant link because they work too.

When you first log into your account, one of the first things you’ll notice is the MANAGE WEB SITES tab. This tab in your seo monitoring account gives you all the important information about network of web properties that your monitoring. It will list:

All the domain names of each site or web property

The URL’s of each site or web property

The IP address of each site or web property

Where each site or web property is hosted

Whether or not the domain is parked

Who the domain registrar is for each domain

You’ll also notice and “Actions” and “Active” column to the far right, but we’ll get to those in just a minute. There are some important features on this particular tab that like to make you aware of. First of all you’ll notice that you have the ability to sort each column. Using this feature you can quickly see how many websites you have hosted a particular web host, registered your particular domain registrar or how many websites reside on the same IP address for example. Now there’s some confusion about whether or not it safe to host multiple websites on the same IP address as you might find in a shared hosting using add-on domains. So let’s set the record straight once and for all – The fact is it’s perfectly acceptable to host multiple websites all using the same IP address. Just do not link all those sites together if they live on the same IP address and you’ll be fine. Now if you click your mouse on any listed web host or registrar name within the manage websites tab, the system will launch a new window for you automatically that links to the login page for that web host or domain registrar. This makes it super easy for you to update hosting or registration information without actually having to leave your accounts online control panel. Now let’s get back to the ACTIONS and ACTIVE tabs. Under the ACTIONS tabs you will see four (4) icons. The first allows you to see WHOIS record for that particular domain. The second allows you to add NOTES about that website. This is extremely helpful if you are making changes to your site to test on page as SEO factors or if perhaps you’ve done the media by of some sort. Simply launch the notes window and type in a few sentences about what you’ve done or plan to do. The system will automatically add a date stamp and carry that forward each time you make a new note about that website. Using the NOTES feature is a great way to develop a diary on how effective your current SEO strategy is for any particular linking campaign or strategy that you might be using. The next icon allows you to CHANGE and/or update SETTINGS for a particular website. (Launch site settings) and this comes in very handy should you ever change web hosts or domain registrars. The final icon, when clicked will DELETE a particular record (web property) from your SEO tracking account. Please remember, if you are doing SEO monitoring for a particular domain and then delete that site from your account, there’s no way to get it back and you’ll lose all of stored or tracking information even if you add the domain manually back again to your MasterSiteManager.com account. Finally, there is the ACTIVE column. Here you’ll see either a green or red indicator. As part of our SEO tracking and monitoring services, the system automatically pings the domains listed in your account at least once a day to ensure that all your websites are live. If any of your sites fail to respond, you’ll see a red icon and you’ll also receive an e-mail notification alerting you that your website has gone down. Some services charge upwards of $49 a year or more for simple domain monitoring like this one is included as part of your membership at no additional charge. Watch video here
